About the group:
This group is designed for people who are struggling with a long-standing eating disorder, or who have relapsed after hospital-based treatment for an eating disorder. Topics for each session are chosen by participants themselves. Since most participants have had experience with formal treatment for their eating disorder, the topics chosen typically go beyond basic psychoeducation and skill development. The facilitators design sessions according to the needs of the group, and there is often a wide range of issues addressed. Opportunity for discussion is particularly important in this group, as participants have considerable knowledge and experience to share. The group is professionally facilitated by one of our clinicians, and each session is 90 minutes in length. We ask that participants commit to the full 10 weeks. No diagnosis is required and there is no charge for the group - however donations are welcomed. Please note that this group is not a substitute for outpatient or inpatient hospital-based treatment.
This group is not a substitute for intensive outpatient or inpatient treatment, and it is strongly encouraged that participants keep in regular contact with their family doctor for medical monitoring while attending this group.
