    Recovery Sessions: A community support option using honest, authentic conversations centred around self-help topics including practical skills, tools and resources. Conversations are lead by individuals with lived experience of an eating disorder/disordered eating and a clinician.

    Workshops: Free standing support programming, facilitated by a clinician, on a specific recovery topic.

    Body Brave’s first recovery session! Recovery sessions are webinars centered around different topics of relevance to people with eating disorders. Join us for an honest, authentic conversation about body image and coping behaviours with a Body Brave clinician and panelists with lived experience.

    Join us for an honest, authentic conversation about setting realistic recovery goals with a Body Brave clinician and panelists with lived experience. Leave this session with concrete skills and a helpful resource to help you set SMART goals along the recovery journey. Topic will incorporate conversation around binge eating and previously submitted questions about binge eating will be addressed.

    Nourish Your Recovery

    Friday, June 11th 2021, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST​ 

    Workshop

     

    Facilitated by Courtenay Vickers RD (she/her) & Jeannine Smith RD (she/her). 

    During this 2-hour educational workshop, you will be introduced to what structured eating for recovery is from a non-diet, weight-inclusive lens. Structured eating is often an integral part of recovery from an eating disorder, and generally involves a meal plan and timed eating. Come ready to explore what it means to nourish your recovery! This workshop is appropriate for anyone struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating who is ready to explore basic information about nutrition for recovery. This workshop is not a substitute for individual nutrition counselling. This workshop is open nation-wide (all provinces and territories in Canada).

    How do our emotions relate to eating and thoughts about food?  This 2-hour workshop will support participants in building awareness of the connection between emotions, thoughts, and eating. Participants will be introduced to the basics of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and tools to identify and explore emotional eating. This workshop is not a substitute for individual CBT therapy or counselling. This workshop is open nation-wide (all provinces and territories in Canada).

    Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a therapy that focuses on increasing one’s ability to manage intense emotions and act in ways that are effective, helpful, and consistent with one’s values. During this 2-hour workshop participants will be introduced to some basics of DBT including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to support their recovery. Focus will be on integrating DBT skills into everyday life and navigating the ups-and-downs of recovery. This group is suitable for anyone at any stage of their recovery journey. This workshop is open nation-wide (all provinces and territories in Canada).

    Keep Calm & Carry On

    Friday, August 13th 2021, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM EST

    Facilitated by Janet Noble MSW, RSW (she/her) Ambereen-Rose Velji (she/her), and Happiness Anekwe (she/her) MSW Student.  

    “I have anxiety. How do I keep calm and carry on??” Anxiety can be a common struggle for many folks with an eating disorder. This 2-hour workshop will focus on managing symptoms of anxiety will address how you see yourself, your world, and the people around you. Together we will explore how you can learn to change those “hot” anxious thoughts and feelings. This workshop will be conducted with an eating disorder sensitive lens and is geared towards individuals struggling with food, weight and body issues. Open nation-wide (all provinces and territories in Canada).
